adphos/GSS TDC (Tower, Dryer, Carriage) systems are a family of high performance, cost effective solutions which enable the integration of digital monochrome or process color inkjet printing with traditional offset web presses and finishing lines. TDC’s can also be used in offline applications as ultra high speed standalone laser printing replacement systems. TDC’s are available in portable, simplex, and duplex configurations. With three standard widths, a wide range of options, and field upgradeability, TDC’s can be configured and reconfigured to meet your applications both now and into the future. The extreme accuracy of TDC’s allow for imperceptible head to head and rail to rail stitching of printheads for monochrome applications, as well as enabling the production of tightly registered process color images.
Modular, Flexible, Upgradeable
As authorized integrators of Kodak Prosper inkjet technology, adphos/GSS TDC systems can be outfitted with Kodak Prosper S5, S10, DH6240 or DH9100 printheads in a myriad of configurations.
TDC’s are available in three standard widths to accommodate 20” (508mm) 26” (660mm) or 38” (965mm) web widths. With a TDC system, it is possible to start with a basic two rail monochrome system, and as your business and requirements grow, upgrade with additional carriages, printhead positioning systems and mounts, servo controlled tension controls, web guides, web cleaners, turn bars and additional adphos NIRWEB II emitter modules for the increased drying capacity required for process color printing . All upgrades can be performed with minimal downtime right at your facility.
The tower can be configured to accommodate up to four “two rail” printhead carriages for a total of eight rails. Contained within the tower are the rollers and optional tension controls, web guide, and web cleaner.
The printhead carriage positions and maintains the printheads across the web. The printhead positioning system, with closed loop feedback control, has an accuracy of ±.002” (.05mm) which equates to 1 px at 600 dpi. The extreme accuracy of the TDC carriage(s) allows for imperceptible rail to rail printhead stitching for monochrome applications, as well as process color registration that rivals the best offset presses. With direct communication from Kodak’s CS410 controller to the TDC, printhead positions and drying zones are automatically configured on the TDC saving valuable press time by eliminating the need to separately configure the printheads and drying zones on the TDC.
TDC systems are up to the task on even the most demanding inkjet applications, including process color and those on high gloss and temperature sensitive substrates. Outfitted with adphos NIRWEB II inkjet drying systems, TDC’s are capable of operation at speeds in excess of 1,000 fpm (305 mpm). NIRWEB II inkjet drying systems deliver the energy you need, where you need it by incorporating adphos NIR® (Near InfraRed) technology resulting in optimal drying performance, cooler web temperatures and a significant reduction in the softening of the conventionally printed offset compared to other inkjet drying systems.
